Today is Record Store Day and I am heading off to the store to check it out. Do you have any events in your store today, dOT rOT Thrash?

yes PA, record store day is our biggest day of the year. they never release anything cool or limited for metalheads, but i still pick up alot of stuff every year. it’s cool to see people so happy and dropping cash like mad on music. even if it’s only one day a year that people remember we’re still around, that’s better than nothing. i only bought one record store day piece this year, although we still have some patti smith “horses” left over which i’ll probably get.

this is what i bought at the end of the night:

pearl jam - who killed rudolph 7”
eddie vedder - love boat captain 7”  (my favorite PJ song, and the only RSD piece i got this year…it’s limited to 600)

haha! i dont think i could part with them! it makes me kreator collection look quite nice!

i got 20 more tapes today along with some old fanzines. i’m not even going to list them, because most art demos from totally unheard of bands from the 80’s and early 90’s. that and i’m just too fuckin’ lazy.

i also got my 2 kreator 7"s in the mail, along with patti smith’s peace and noise on vinyl which is a bit harder to come by.

there are no signs of slowing down….EVER.

I just bought Lionel Ritchie’s greatest hits along with Smashing Pumpkin’s Rotten Apples. I also bough Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies and Jane’s Addiction - Nothing’s Shocking. Yes, I finally bought some music, No Metal though….

i’m surprised at some of these simply because in my mind they contributed to the fall of metal in the 90’s. cool to see that you got some stuff grover! i bet that feels good!

ps. i really expected you to say lionel ritchie’s new album. it’s been selling like crazy! i cant figure it out at all!

The Lionel Ritchie was a Christmas gift from Wendy from 2 years ago. I got it yesterday. Of all of the “grunge” bands, the only one I liked was really AIC. Jane’s Addiction’s Nothing’s shocking is to me… nearly perfect. This is my 5th copy. I love every song.

Oops… as a general rule of thumb… I never buy anything until it is at least 2 years old. That is much different for metal music but all other genres wait on me.

that’s an odd way of doing things, but to each their own! i’d be so behind although most of the stuff i like is more than 20 years old…so i guess it doesnt really matter.

I’m an odd dude. starting a music collection on cassette really burned me up. I had bought over 300 metal albums on cassette just before CD’s got popular. Plus all of my vinyl just disappeared. I’m old now, ya know? If it isn’t Kreator, it waits on me and I’m lucky to hear it until it is 2 years old. I don’t like being HIP. All of the stuff I just bought… I had previously owned. I’ve picked up and moved in the middle of the night about 10 times too many.
