To me, “Coma of Souls” is Kreator’s most powerful work that they’ve ever recorded.  Sucks that they went through a lot the 90’s that pretty much ditching their thrash metal roots.  The last 3-4 albums they’ve made a comeback though.  I really wish that Frank was still on lead guitar…his genius was exhibited on “Coma of Souls”.  However, at least they’re playing once again what they love especially us fans!

I think Coma of Souls was their peak. Extreme Aggression was leading up to it. 1990 was a pivotal year for metal and metal bands: peak albums came from Sacred Reich, Forbidden, Coroner, Slayer (although Reign in Blood is its own kind of equal), and Kreator. The following year the old guard was failing, in particular Metallica, and the new guard was coming in: Pantera, and Sepultura (though again, Sepultura’s Arise was the same phenomenon as Coma of Souls…funny). And then the rise of death metal with Death, Carcass (Heartwork, again a peak), and Obituary.
