I think Coma of Souls was their peak. Extreme Aggression was leading up to it. 1990 was a pivotal year for metal and metal bands: peak albums came from Sacred Reich, Forbidden, Coroner, Slayer (although Reign in Blood is its own kind of equal), and Kreator. The following year the old guard was failing, in particular Metallica, and the new guard was coming in: Pantera, and Sepultura (though again, Sepultura’s Arise was the same phenomenon as Coma of Souls…funny). And then the rise of death metal with Death, Carcass (Heartwork, again a peak), and Obituary.
